Trade show participants may enter Germany

Trade shows in Germany are characterized by their internationality: according to data collected by the German trade show association AUMA, around 60% of the 180,000 exhibitors each year come from abroad, a third of them from countries outside Europe. Of the 10 million visitors, almost 30% come from abroad. All the more important for the restart of the events is now the clarification on the part of AUMA that the entry of trade show participants from abroad is in principle also possible in times of the Corona pandemic.

But in early September, there are signs that the worst may be over - at least in the Far East, namely China and South Korea. Japan has been partly hampered by the resignation of its long serving Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. But this shouldn’t be a major setback. North America is totally different - not only because of the elections in November, but also because of the Corona death toll, still raging from Alabama to Wyoming.

Green car boom drives aluminium demand

The Coronavirus pandemic has brought oil prices sharply down, no one would have predicted that oil prices would even dip briefly into negativ territory. Due to the lockdown in wide parts of the world, car sales fell in the first six month of this year in China and the US by a quarter, in Europe car sales even dropped 38 per cent. But whilst nobody knows, how long the deadly pandemic drags on, especially in the US and some countries in South America like Brazil, it looks like the worst may be over in other parts of the world. With lockdowns slowly lifted, people start to move around again. And since they have to wear face masks in public transport on busses, trains and in airplanes they very much prefer their own cars.
