European Aluminium supports swift actions for the recovery of the automotive sector at the European level
Aluminium is a part of many large value chains and the largest of them being the automotive and transport sector. This sector alone represents 36% of the aluminium market. As the automotive industry is facing a severe slowdown or is even stopping production, the aluminium production in Europe (alumina, primary, recycling, semi-fabrication and some final products) is at risk.

European Aluminium launched its Circular Aluminium Action Plan
The action plan - a strategy for achieving aluminium’s full potential for a circular economy by 2030 - aims to ensure that all end-of-life aluminium products are collected and recycled efficiently in Europe to maximise aluminium recycling rates.

The aluminium industry cannot escape the dramatic developments in industrial activity
New orders and call-off figures from the automotive industry had declined sharply and had even come to a complete standstill in some cases, according to an ad hoc survey conducted by the Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie (GDA).
