Novelis, a provider of sustainable aluminium solutions and the global market leader in aluminium rolling and recycling, received the "2022 Supplier of the Year" award at the annual Partnership Day of the automotive manufacturer Hyundai Motor Group. With this award, Hyundai recognized Novelis in the material supplier category, based on a comprehensive evaluation of all the company's aluminium and steel material suppliers in the areas of supply chain reliability, quality and technical support. Novelis is the first aluminium sheet supplier to be honored with this title by the South Korean automaker.

Novelis supplies automotive aluminium sheet produced at its technically advanced rolling mill in Ulsan, South Korea, for interior and exterior applications for Hyundai Motor Group's Genesis brand and its electric vehicle models. Novelis' high-strength, easily formable and lightweight aluminium solutions are suitable for various automotive parts such as hoods, doors and tailgates, complete body structures and EV battery housings.

Strong partnership for carbon neutrality

Novelis has more than 50 years of experience and technical expertise in the production and recycling of aluminium for the automotive industry and will continue to strengthen its partnership with Hyundai toward the common goal of carbon neutrality.

Novelis is among the largest suppliers of aluminium sheet to the automotive industry and the only aluminium supplier with automotive sheet capacity on all three major automotive producing continents – Asia, Europe and North America. A new $50 million aluminium recycling plant is also currently under expansion in Ulsan, South Korea. With an annual casting capacity of 100 kilotons of low-carbon sheet, the center is expected to reduce Novelis' carbon emissions by more than 420,000 tons per year.
