Production: Good Q3 for German aluminum industry

18 percent increase for semis producers. However, economic risks are increasing.

The production trend of German aluminum producers was positive on balance in the third quarter. Almost all customer segments contributed to this trend, with semis producers benefiting most significantly with growth of around 18 percent.

This is the conclusion reached by Aluminium Deutschland (AD) on the basis of data from the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden.

However: AD emphasizes that the economic risks on the supply side have increased significantly: "For example, the official German car production forecast of the VDA has been lowered from three to minus 18 percent. A frighteningly low level! This revision will also have a negative impact on forecasts for other sectors. In addition, fears of a shortage of input materials have been increasing sharply in recent weeks."
