DAVR becomes part of Aluminium Deutschland

August 15, 2022
Düsseldorf

DAVR aims to promote the image of packaging, especially with regard to recycling, to further optimize collection and sorting, and thus to contribute to the sustainable development of aluminium packaging.

Aluminium Deutschland took over the tasks of DAVR in July. The previously existing DAVR GmbH was dissolved in the process and will be continued as a working group of Aluminium Deutschland on behalf of the shareholders.

The integration of DAVR will create valuable synergies through the expertise available in the association in the fields of aluminium recycling and aluminium packaging, according to the association.

Aluminium Deutschland already looks after the specialist associations Recycling, Aluminium Semi-finished Products and Tubes, Cans, Impact Extrusions and thus covers the relevant range of DAVR topics. In addition, Aluminium Deutschland is in charge of working groups and task forces on the aluminium beverage can, which boasts a recycling rate of approx. 99 percent in Germany. The first DAVR contact person will be recycling expert Jörg Schäfer, supported by Seifeldin Raslan Mohamed.

"Great relevance in public perception"

"Packaging applications have great relevance in the public perception due to their proximity to consumers", says Marius Baader, managing director of Aluminium Deutschland. "The decarbonization of the aluminium industry and thus also efficient recycling are of central importance to us as an industry and association. Aluminium, with its excellent recycling properties, and its innovative industry are key to greater resource efficiency and make an important contribution to greater climate protection. We are therefore looking forward to the tasks and challenges associated with the DAVR takeover."
